About
One boat, worked properly
Built on a lifetime spanning competitive angling, commercial tuna fishing, international sportfishing and luxury yachting.
What this is
Atlantic Drift Fishing Charters was founded on a simple belief: a world-class fishing destination deserves a world-class charter experience.
The operation runs offshore tuna charters, inshore light tackle and bottom fishing, coastal cruises and pelagic birding charters from Hout Bay Harbour, Cape Town, aboard Benguela.
It is shaped by the experience of a captain who has fished professionally on three continents. That depth defines every trip — seamanship, proven fishing expertise and genuine hospitality, with attention to detail and uncompromising professionalism.
What we are trying to be
Cape Town’s leading charter operator, setting the benchmark for premium offshore fishing and ocean experiences. Delivered by combining local knowledge with internationally proven expertise, for guests of every age, ability and interest.
Underneath that: passing on a lifetime of knowledge, passion and respect for the ocean.
How the day is decided
The standard of the experience begins long before anyone steps aboard. Conditions are reviewed with you 48 hours out, an alternative date is considered if necessary, and the final go/no-go, departure time, location and transport are usually confirmed the evening before.
Safety is never compromised for the sake of the catch, the schedule or the experience. Trips get moved. The days that do run are worth running.
Practical detail
- guideSeasickness on a Cape Town charter, and how to avoid itTake a non-drowsy antihistamine the night before and again ninety minutes before departure, eat a light breakfast, stay on deck looking at the horizon, and stay hydrated. Taking medication once you already feel ill does not work.
- guideWhat to bring on a Cape Town fishing charterSun protection, a warm windproof layer, soft-soled shoes, extra water, seasickness medication and a dry bag for your phone. Tackle, bait and safety equipment are supplied.
- guideBooking your first offshore charterYou arrive at Hout Bay Harbour before first light, run one to two and a half hours offshore, fish through the middle of the day and are back on the mooring in the afternoon. The crew rigs everything and talks you through the fight.
